Welcome to the second post in our Simple Meet & Greet series! Learn about the aroma-benefit of Eucalpytus and Spearmint and how together they make an uplifting yet soft blend to keep you calm and cool all day long. :)
There are many varieties of the Eucalpytus plant; the one that we use here at Ruministics is Eucalpytus globulus, which is one of the most widely used varieties (Apparently there are over 300 species of Eucalyptus!). Eucalyptus was thought to be discovered in the late 1700’s in Tasmania and now grows freely in many areas of the world including Australia, North Africa and Europe.
The essential oil of this plant has been know to help with respiratory issues such as coughs and colds and may help open sinus passages to give you a chance to breathe more freely!
It has a fresh, uplifting aroma that is camphoracerous and can be quite heady!
Spearmint, Mentha spicata, is a versatile perennial plant, native to the Mediterranean, but is now found in many places throughout the world (Funny how things travel!)
The aroma of Spearmint is, of course, minty, but gentler and more mild than it’s cousin, the ever-popular Peppermint (They’re both from the Lamiaceae botanical family), giving it a soft, cool and almost relaxing feel. Not surprising since Spearmint has been known to help relieve stress and tension.
The scent of Spearmint may be reminiscent of candies and gum and is often used as a flavoring for those items.
Eucalyptus & Spearmint together make a calm and cool blend to give you a soothing element to help your body, mind and soul through a long day. Find these pairings in our popular Eucalyptus & Spearmint soap, or a salve to soften and moisturize your skin, and now this dynamic duo comes in a roll on oil too! With the these by your side you can let you new motto be: Keep Calm and Mint On!
You can also find Eucalpytus in our Inspiration roll on for clarity & focus! Both Eucalpytus & Spearmint are components in our best-selling Quiet Thoughts roll on oil to help with stress & tension issues.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about how Eucalyptus and/or Spearmint has accented your life; leave a comment and let me know!
